Office Features to Boost Your Employees’ Productivity

When it comes to designing offices, convenience often takes precedence over function. Few companies would even consider office design to be any sort of investment. Studies have shown, however, how the good office design has led to a huge spike in employee productivity.

Here are some office features that are proven to boost productivity.

Multiple Windows and Good Lighting

Brighter offices are associated with happy offices. If you can, create an office with a lot of natural light and views of the outdoors to encourage your employees to work more. If in case more windows are not an option, fill your office with good lighting instead.

No to Open-Plan, Yes to Cubicles

Open-plan office designs were created in the 1950s to encourage communication between employees. While most companies, such as Google and Facebook, have opted to embrace an open-plan office, research has shown how this has negatively impacted the workforce.

Open-plan offices are seen as intrusive by more introverted employees and leads to a lack of concentration in the office.

In order to fully concentrate, employees need a personal space they can retreat to for the creative juices to flow. Invest in well-planned office cubicles to give employees their own private area to get the work done. Make sure you provide enough modular storage solutions to keep your employees’ personal belongings organised.

Recreational Space

Instead of making the entire office a public space, provide one area in the office where your employees can relax and get-together. Provide a foosball table or couches were people can just relax and recharge.

Well-organised Office Pantry

Perhaps the most essential feature in any office is an office pantry. Have custom joinery installed to fit your office’s layout and stock it with items like coffee, sugar and creamer. The office pantry is used on a daily basis and is subject to high traffic so be sure to use durable materials. Invest in an established kitchen renovator in Sydney to ensure only the best quality work.

Badel Kitchens and Joinery has long established itself as an expert in kitchen and bathroom renovations in Sydney. Multiple companies have trusted us as well with their office renovations. Consult with our trained tradesmen and begin work on your commercial office or fitout.

Kitchen Renovation: How to Get the Designer Look for Half the Cost

Kitchen Renovation: How to Get the Designer Look for Half the Cost

Kitchen renovations can often seem out of the budget. But with new techniques and methods being perfected every day, more and more materials are turning out to be increasingly accessible and cost-efficient.

Nowadays, the kitchen reno of your dream can easily be achieved with these pieces that help you get that designer look without the costly price tag.

Specially-designed quartz

Marble is every homeowner’s dream material. But despite its lofty price tag, it’s not nearly as practical than its cheaper counterparts. Painting techniques and production methods have made it possible to achieve various (and realistic) looks of marble at a fraction of the cost. Homeowners are now able to choose the colour and pattern they wish to have and replicate it on a more durable surface, such a quartz.

Hardwood Tiles

Hardwood flooring will always be in vogue. However, they are difficult to clean and even more difficult to maintain over the years. Multiple kitchen reno suppliers offer porcelain tiles that provide the look and feel of hardwood floors at a much more affordable cost. Not only are these tiles cheaper, they’re also easier to install and much easier to clean and maintain. They also come in a variety of colours and finishes to suit your kitchen’s overall design.

Faux wood beams

Thanks to Pinterest, there’s been a steady rise in rustic or barnyard inspired homes. While this aesthetic is incredible to look at, it also comes at an incredible cost as weathered, yet still sturdy, wood is difficult to procure. Through innovations in technology, you can now purchase imitation wooden beams to add a rustic flair to your home. Best of all, these won’t end up costing you an arm and a leg.

If you’re looking to get that designer look at an affordable price tag, talk to a kitchen reno expert. They’ll be able to give you advice on which materials would be a good alternative and will have a list of suppliers to offer you. Contact Badel Kitchens and Joinery today to get that expensive look while staying within your budget.

Often overlooked, soft-close drawers are a great way to make using your kitchen more comfortable. Pull-down Kitchen Faucet

Pull-down faucets, and a similar feature, the pull-out faucet, have a flexible hose built into the system which can be pulled down (or out) for additional length. This makes cleaning up easier as it allows you to maneuver the faucet according to what is convenient for you. Pull-down faucets also make tasks such as filling up pots and bottle easier with less mess.

Full extension drawers

Full extension drawers allow you full access to every part of your drawer. Check out popular options such as Blum’s Tandemboxes which enables you to have multiple full-extension drawers in one cabinet, each with a soft-close feature. Good lighting is a must in any kitchen. Sometimes, however, light can be lacking in areas such as counter underneath your cabinets. Under-cabinet lighting is a great way to bring in additional task lighting to assist you during meal preparations.

You can purchase simple stick-on batter-operated LED under cabinet lighting which are readily available online to avoid the tedious task of rewiring.

Waste and recycling center

A well-planned waste and recycling centre keeps the bin out of sight and out of the way. Because it is contained in its own unit, it is also more hygienic. Waste and recycling centres can be installed below the counters for easy access during meal preparations. When it’s time to take the garbage out, all you need to do is pull out the bag.

Your kitchen can become easier and more convenient to use with the inclusion of these easy-living features which can be easily incorporated into your kitchen or storage. Contact Badel Kitchens and Joinery today to get started on your kitchen reno.

7 Things You Need to Ask Your Contractor

7 Things You Need to Ask Your Contractor

Looking for a contractor can be a tough job. It’s a big step handing over and trusting your home to a complete stranger, but you shouldn’t worry. Here’s a list of questions all homeowners should ask potential contractors before starting a home renovation project to keep your mind at ease.

  1. What’s your business history?
Before you hire a contractor, you’ll want to dig up on their history. Ask about their license and experience in the business. It’s also a good idea to ask for a list of previous clients and their contact numbers who can give you a testimonial as to how efficiently your potential contractor works. Ask about what licenses and certification they have. It’s good to note, too, if they are a member of any associations or guilds such as the masters build or the HIA.
  2. What is our schedule?
Don’t begin any home renovation project without a schedule. This includes more than just a start and an end date. Your schedule should consist of a timeline of all the things to be done: date of the installation of cabinets, appliances, clean up, etc. You’ll need this so you can keep track of the progress of your home renovation project and whether or not you’re ahead of or falling behind schedule.
  3. Who will be at the site and how will it be supervised?
Ask your contractor for a staff list with the names of all staff/workers entering and working on your home. You’ll also need to know who is in charge of supervising all the said people so you’ll know who will be handling the crew at all times.
  4. How will you communicate with me?
There are so many ways to communicate and transfer data these days – everything from cloud-based transfers, emails, or even phone calls. Find out how your contractor will be sending you the plans, vital information, and updates, as well as the best and quickest way to get in touch with them.
  5. What kind of documentation will I receive when the project is done?
Contractors often send you plans and blueprints, but there are a lot of other useful things you will need which contractors often overlook. Make sure your contractor turns over the instruction manuals of any appliances installed, how to care for your new countertops and tiles, to name a few. Talk to your contractor about the documents you’ll be getting before you begin the home renovation project.
  6. What’s your work routine like?
Know how each day is going to be like. Ask what time each work day begins and ends, if there are going to be any breaks and how long they are going to be, etc.
Ask if they’ll be working on multiple aspects of the home renovation project at the same time or if they’ll focus on just one at a time.
  7. Can I get that in writing?
You’ll want to get everything in writing to ensure that both you and your contractor deliver on what had been agreed upon.
The most important part in any home renovation project is open communication between the homeowner and contractor. Make sure you build a foundation of trust and good communication to make sure you stay on top of any project you plan on doing.

wardrobe makeover tips

Wardrobe Makeover: 7 Space and Money Saving Wardrobe Tips

It’s a brand new year! Celebrate it by upgrading or renovating your reach-in wardobe at home. When it comes to wardrobe renovations, it’s important to plan ahead. Consult with an expert who will help you with your wardrobe makeover. It may seem like it will cost alot to do so, but it’s important to note that a poorly planned wardrobe could cost you just as much, or even more, than a well-planned one. Here are a few things you should know before you begin your wardrobe makeover.

1. Before you even begin with renovations, clean out your wardrobe.

This helps you gauge exactly how much space you’ll need. Throw out any clothes you haven’t worn in the last six months, then group things according to kind.

2. Build what you need.

It may be tempting to get a wall-to-wall reach-in wardrobe, but that could only end up costing you more money.

3. Know the dimensions you’ll need.

A typical wardrobe is 60 cm deep, and uses a 1.22m long rod per person. Shelves, on the other hand, are normally 28 –35 cm deep and 30cm high. Hire a professional contractor who canhelp you maximise the space you havewhile planning for efficiency at the same time.

4. Organise what you have.

Since you’ve already grouped similar items together, you’ll know just exactly how much space you’ll need to allocate for each. To maximise space, install two rods, one on top of the other. Your top rod can have all your shirts and blouses, and your bottom one can store your pants and trousers. If a certain group of items occupy more than 50 cm, you might want to consider creating a separate space just for it.

5. Make sure you plan for efficiency.

Allot a space specifically for your autumn and winter clothes so you won’t have to dig around for them. Avoid keeping bags on the floor because picking them up from such a low point can get taxing after a while.

6. Don’t bother spending on specialty items.

Those “unique” space saving gadgets that require you to do 2 – 3 steps just to reach your clothing may not be worth it. You’ll be sacrificing efficiency just for space, and you might end up chucking it in the bin after just a few uses.

7. Keep your shoes out of your wardrobe.

A good place to keep a shoe cabinet is by thedoor. Have your contractor build you a tall yet shallow wardrobe to keep all your shoesneat placed and in full view for when you need them.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money for your wardrobe renovations. All you need is to plan ahead and think strategically. Consult with an expert to help you with the wardrobe makeover.

baking soda and oil home renovation tips

Bring the Lustre Back in Your Home

The new year marks new beginnings and fresh starts. Give your home the sparkle it once had and do a general, deep cleaning to your kitchen. We’ve got a quick way to bring the life back into your stained and tarnished kitchen staples. Best of all, you’ll be using things you already have at home. Read our home renovation tips.

Stainless Steel Appliances and Fixtures – Vinegar and Oil

If you have stainless steel appliances at home, such as your toaster or dishwasher, you’ll notice that they’re prone to water stains and fingerprints. These can make your appliances look older than they actually are. A spritz of vinegar will make them look brand new again!

  1. Before you begin, take not of which direction the grain goes. They could either run vertically or horizontally.
  2. Take some vinegar and put it in a spray bottle and spray your appliances with it.
  3. Using a paper towel or very soft cloth, wipe the vinegar away along the grain. Go in the direction of the grain so you don’t create any nicks or scratches on the surface.
  4. Using a very soft or microfibre towel, take some oil (mineral oil is best but any oil, such as olive oil, will do just fine) and begin polishing your appliance or fixture. Once again, go in the direction of the grain.Tip: you only need a very small amount of oil to do this. Using more than you actually need will make the surfaces sticky. Begin with a few drops and just add more as needed.

Wooden Cabinets – Baking Soda and Oil

Stains and spots can often be found on laminate cabinets. To get rid of them, all you need is oil and some baking soda.

  1. Mix 1 part oil with 2 parts baking soda.
  2. Using either your hands or a soft cloth/sponge, work the mixture into the grains in your cabinets.
  3. Use a toothbrush to get into all the nooks and crannies.

dishwashing alcohol

Granite Countertops – Dishwashing Liquid and Isopropyl Alcohol

Countertops are subject to all sorts of use and abuse, so it’s good to clean and sanitise them often.

  1. Mix dishwashing liquid with some warm water.
  2. Using a sponge, wipe down the counter using the soapy water.
  3. Dry off with a microfibre towel to avoid streaks.
  4. To disinfect, mix water and alcohol in equal parts. Spray countertop completely with the solution and let sit for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Wipe down with microfibre towel.
